Day Three: Manhattan Made

Got a little fancier with day 3 attire. We were headed to Fifth Avenue after all.

I didn't want the people in Sephora to think I was a bum off the street,

so I went with black tights, a black dress with mesh at the top, 

and a solid green boyfriend blazer.

To top it off, I wore silver hoops and black glitter-heeled booties.

(Yes, heels . . . I tried to think about the fashion aspect and not the pain, 

but by the end of the day, I would surely regret that decision.)

New York-style pizza for lunch. 
It was the cheapest meal in New York City and it was filling!

The New York Public Library.

This would be my home if I lived in New York.

It's aesthetically pleasing to the eye and filled with books. 

Rockefeller Plaza . . . NBC . . . Need I say more?

They actually had a key chain with my name on it!!
(This never happens . . .)

Sephora and Pantone Universe joined together to create an entire line of "Color of the Year" products including this nail polish, which I am sure to be sporting for the entire year.

This year it's emerald!!

Couldn't help purchasing these fantastic aviators at H&M on Fifth Ave.

For dinner, we got sushi and for dessert we shared a banana split . . . with a twist.

They fry the bananas! 

It was bizarre and wonderful at the same time. 

Day Two: Sunday in the Square, Times Square that is

Day two outfit = leggings, riding boots, and a nice comfy dress!

For lunch, we met a couple of our friends at an Irish Pub on Restaurant Row. 

With the luck o' the Irish on my side, I got to try a sip of Guinness beer.

For our meal, we dined on traditional chicken pot pies! 

They were delish!

Then we ventured out into Times Square for a day of shopping and exploring.

The Hershey Store!

I must say this store is more than capable of satisfying 

any chocolate craving a person could have.

I couldn't resist going into the Fossil store!

As the owner of two Fossil bags and a charm bracelet,

I just had to support the brand once again.

(I bought an NYC charm!)

The M&M store!! Talk about three floors of chocolatey goodness! 

This is my second time in an M&M World. 

The first time was on my trip to Las Vegas a couple of years ago, 

and like the Hershey store, both M&M Worlds are equally equipped 

to solve your chocolate woes.

We bought these little eclectic fellows on the street from an artist.

They're made out of dried reed being intricately folded over wires.

We ate dinner at Ellen's Stardust Diner for dinner.

Home of the world-famous singing waitstaff.

They had good all-American food and the songs were mostly old school.

The picture on the right was my favorite song of the evening: Summer Lovin' from Grease.

As we walked back to the hotel, we stopped to look at the Fashion Walk of Fame.

If you didn't know, 7th Avenue is also called Fashion Avenue.

It holds everything from the Parson School of Design to the Fashion Walk of Fame 

to the Fashion Institute of Technology.

And here are just a few of the famous designers featured on the Walk of Fame:

 Betsey Johnson is by far one of my favorite designers. 

Her quirky mismatched sense of style is fantastic and 

I appreciate her pieces even more year after year.

Day One: Travel Time

SPRING BREAK 2013: The Big Apple

New York City will eventually be my home, so I figured I may as well get familiar with it.
I decided that on March 1, 2013 I would be on my way to the big apple.
Friday came, and I boarded the bus to Columbus
where I would then take a Greyhound bus to NYC.

On the bus from Athens to Columbus = the first step in my adventure!

After 5 hours in the station, I was ready to get the show on the road.

They're not kidding when they say you meet some crazy people in the bus station . . .

but you also meet some crazy nice people.

Throughout the bus ride, we hit snow patches in Pittsburgh and traffic in Philadelphia.

At this point, I was SO CLOSE to NYC I could taste it!

A little bit of historic Philadelphia for you.

I arrived in New York City around 4pm and after a long day of travel, 

I was ready to do some fine dining.

So naturally, my dad and I found the nearest sandwich shop and had our fill.

Saturday Night Dinner = The Potbelly Sandwich Shop on 7th Avenue.

This meatball sub was delicious, 

and after having absolutely no food until this on Saturday, 

this sure satisfied my hunger.

 We are living large in the big city for the next few days AKA SUITE STYLE.

We have our own little apartment here in The Hotel Pennsylvania. 

Plus we're super close to Times Square and 5th Avenue.

Hello shopping! 

My outfit for Mary Poppins.

 Saturday night, I went to see the second to last night of Mary Poppins on Broadway.

At the end of the show, Mary flies out over the audience 

and I can guarantee I looked like a kid in a candy store 

with the huge grin that was permanently fixed on my face.

It was a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious evening of theater.

Ended the long day with a pepsi: New York Style.

The Journey Ahead

Tomorrow I embark on a scrupulous journey. 

I may encounter dragons or trolls . . . or naked cowboys.

My spring break begins 

and so begins my adventure in the big apple. 

I must ride the terrible greyhound through lands unknown 

and face the enormous square.

Sorry, I went all Lord of the Rings on you, 

but I'm going to NEW YORK CITY!

It's been a year since I've been there,

and I'm ready for one heck of a time.
