Tuesday was my final day in the Big Apple, NYC, the city that never sleeps, the city of dreams, the city so nice, they named it twice or
New York City
My dad and I didn't realize until the last day that
1. We were staying right across from Madison Square Gardens
AND
2. We had never gone left out of our hotel.
It was like a whole new world that we hadn't explored going the
opposite way on Seventh Ave.
First stop, the Fashion Institute of Technology Museum.
They're completely FREE, which is unheard of in NYC.
They also have the perfect exhibits for fashion nerds like me!
I was feeling lucky, because they just happened to have an AH-mazing shoe exhibit.
Shoes . . . how could I pass that up?
They were all ridiculous and amazing,
and impossible to walk in/wear in real life,
but that's fashion. ;)
Above is the Flatiron building.
Go to this link for some awesome pictures of it: Flatiron History
Next, we walked through Little Italy and Chinatown.
My dad bit into the Chinese donut we bought and to his dismay, there was a giant toothpick in it. Turns out it was three donuts put together! |
We stopped in Strand Bookstore on Broadway and I purchased yet another copy of Alice in Wonderland for my collection . . . This one is from the '60s and it's all in Latin! |
BREAKING NEWS: We ran into some news crews while walking down Broadway.
Who knows what they were reporting, but as a fellow journalist,
I felt it wise to report on them reporting.
The new World Trade Center building. It's going to be breathtaking.

MOOD FABRICS!! EEEKKK!!!!!
Look at all the fabric!!!! It's a crafters dream!!!!!! |
Above is Swatch the dog, who just roams Mood Fabrics at his leisure,
and me with my purchase.
Seriously, I couldn't leave without purchasing something!!
For dinner, my dad got a surprise in his food! Another toothpick! I think by Tuesday, New York City was trying to get rid of him! :( |
My dinner: Sloppy joe and mac 'n cheese. Talk about all-American! |
To end our stay in NYC, we saw Once the Musical.
It was contemporary and amazing and my dad's first broadway show!!
Sorry it's blurry. The usher was a Nazi about "NO PHOTOGRAPHS!!" so I had to be quick! |
