1920's fashion is a popular go-to Halloween costume,
but now flapper* apparel is being seen in everyday looks.
Keep this for October only . . . or a costume party. |
This is due to the upcoming release of the movie "The Great Gatsby",
starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Isla Fisher.
"The Great Gatsby" will be out in theaters May 10. |
Attempting flapper fashion can look totally absurd if you do it wrong,
so here are a few tips to get it right:
1. There are two major color palettes to choose from
pastels or black, red, and white.
2. Draping,
ruching, and fringe
are all very acceptable.
3. Headpieces with beading, feathers, and netting are wonderful touches
to a flapper era outfit.
4. Heels are great, but make sure to wear something easy enough to Charleston the night away. ;)
5. RED LIPS!
6. Last, but certainly not least, pearls are a must!
Tie them into a knot at the bottom for an extra touch, or pile on multiple strands.
Here's how the cast of Straight Up does fashion – Gatsby style.
Notice, I'm wearing red lips, pearls, and a headpiece . . . and my dress is drape-y!
Happy 20th Birthday Michelle! |
Pearls, red lips, and the black/red color palette were abundant,
except for on Nathan, of course.
The whole gang keeping it "Straight Up" classy! |
