Well, the holidays are over, the decorations have been put away, and it's back to reality tomorrow, because spring semester of my sophomore year has finally rolled around.
I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely love winter and the holidays and tradition . . . basically anything that comes with the month of December.
And for the first time EVER, I actually went somewhere over Christmas break.
Usually, I'm home all break, snuggled up with a blanket, hot cocoa, and a good book.
Don't get me wrong, that stuff is great, and I still got to do plenty of it,
but what I'm about to tell you was better.
My scholars program at Ohio University (The Ohio Fellows program) offered us a once in a lifetime opportunity: an all-expenses paid trip to New York City.
And as an added bonus the trip was the week after finals . . .
seriously, it couldn't have gotten any better.
New York City + me + the Christmas spirit = a very happy Camille
So here is part one of my NYC winter adventure:
Liana, Jaelynn, and I on an early morning flight out of Columbus. |
Ellyn and I on the second flight . . . almost to NYC! |
Lunch at Estiatorio (a greek restaurant) in NYC after checking into our hotel (the NYLO on the Upper West Side). |
Calamari!!! |
In the afternoon, we went to an Ohio Fellows alumni's place in Central Park West and had an incredible seminar.
Terry Moore is an alum of Ohio Fellows:
and Polly Eisendrath is also an alum of Ohio Fellows:
That night, we went to a Turkish restaurant just a few blocks from Terry's place.
Seriously, the most delicious meal I've ever had in my life. A chicken breast stuffed with peppers, peanuts, and rice with a side of creamed spinach. |
And baklava for dessert. |
Stay tuned for Parts 2 and 3 of my NYC winter adventure!
