That Summer Scene

So I know I've been AWOL since the summer began, only throwing you one measly midnight poem like throwing a starving dog a very small bone, but let me catch you up on the amazing things I've been doing all summer:       working.   Yes, working is what my life has become. I guess this is where all the adults say, "It's the real world. Life isn't fair. It's only down from here." bla bla bla Adults. Surely, I'm not one of those yet. Fifteen years ago I couldn't read, three years ago I couldn't drive, five years ago I had no fashion sense, and just over a year ago, I wasn’t even legal!!! Seriously, this cannot be happening . . .
but I digress.

Anyways, my summer has been spent at the local mall selling mattresses and bras. Sounds like a cliché teenager job, huh? Well it is. Sears and Victoria’s Secret have consumed the first half of my summer.

Just when I thought I was going to die of boredom, finally a few weeks ago, I had my first summer adventure.

My best friend Gabby and I traveled to the big city, or the big apple, I should say.

Get it?  haha Talk about the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.
We traveled by Greyhound and arrived on Thursday, excited for the hustle and bustle of city life, but also starving after our day of travel.
So we used our new favorite app, Yelp, and we found a sandwich shop a few blocks from the Port Authority. Now, the little eatery properly entitled City Sandwich was just the beginning of our food adventures in NYC. Crumbs, Tiramisu, and 16 Handles, along with others, received our financial support throughout the weekend.

Shopping, taxi rides, hole-in-the-wall restaurants, and fun with friends filled our days.

Our main purpose for the trip was the fashionista.com conference, which was spectacular. Being in the same room with Zac Posen, Rebecca Minkoff, and the Maneater was – I can’t even describe it.
I’m speechless (which never happens to me).

Zac Posen - what a beautiful man.

In the Penthouse, Penthouse D to be exact.
The view!!
Of course, shopping consumed us. We’re from Ohio and the universe just plopped us into the fashion capital of the world. Now, that’s just cruel.

Needless to say, our trip was nothing short of amazing.

Since being in New York, I spent a day in Pittsburgh eating fancy Italian food with friends and watching other friends perform their butts off in “Beauty and the Beast” at the Comtra Theater in Cranberry. I also spent a few evenings with Gabbs at the McDonald Festival, playing Bingo like champs, and by champs, I mean old people, and stuffing our faces.

Slowly becoming a hippie, and loving it.
Gabbs won bingo! $6.50 never felt so good!
Grease. Yum!

Ohh and Gabby and I had a yard sale, but let's not talk about that.
It didn't go very well.

Day One:

Day Two: Boredom Ensues
Sorry, I'm really not a Simpsons fan, but this is basically the nicest way to describe Day 2.

So even though I’m still working like crazy, I’m trying to add in adventures whenever possible. And for those of you that know me, you understand that adventure is not exactly my middle name. Nonetheless, I will keep you updated on whatever lies ahead.

I’ll leave you with this:  Back to Athens is just a month away. I will be reunited with Allison, and be prepared for photo shoots and new ideas that will blow your mind.
