Bros for Life

Earlier on this week, I asked my Big to do a photo shoot with me.
She was under the impression that these photos were strictly for Ritzee Rose,
but little did she know that her Little had a plan. ;)

I wanted a photo to put on the back of her paddle to give to her at Ritual.

Not only did we get the perfect picture, but we took a few extras too.

What a great Big she is!

We were rockin'  PSP colors and some of the hottest spring trends: a hi-low, colored pants, the color mustard, and brown sandals: hers with fringe and mine were more gladiator-esque.

This is the one I used on the back of Julia's paddle!

Friday night finally came along, and I was beyond excited to become an official brother
of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity!!

Here is the beautiful Xi class! Gosh we are gorgeous.

And oh so classy.

And fun.

Who knew that our initiate advisor was a pimp? ....haha jk
but really he is

Pretty girls, Lena and Anna!

Sara!!

Umm, no words . . . except that they're all fantastic.

The Halpert Family!!

BTW, she loved her paddle and
I've officially decided to change my career to professional paddle maker.

PSP Love!

Party at Gatsby's

1920's fashion is a popular go-to Halloween costume,
but now flapper* apparel is being seen in everyday looks.

Keep this for October only . . . or a costume party.

This is due to the upcoming release of the movie "The Great Gatsby",
starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Isla Fisher.

"The Great Gatsby" will be out in theaters May 10.

Attempting flapper fashion can look totally absurd if you do it wrong,
so here are a few tips to get it right:

1. There are two major color palettes to choose from
pastels or black, red, and white.

2. Draping,

ruching, and fringe

 are all very acceptable.

3. Headpieces with beading, feathers, and netting are wonderful touches
 to a flapper era outfit.

4. Heels are great, but make sure to wear something easy enough to Charleston the night away. ;)

5. RED LIPS!

6. Last, but certainly not least, pearls are a must!
Tie them into a knot at the bottom for an extra touch, or pile on multiple strands.

Here's how the cast of Straight Up does fashion – Gatsby style.

Notice, I'm wearing red lips, pearls, and a headpiece . . . and my dress is drape-y!

Happy 20th Birthday Michelle!
Pearls, red lips, and the black/red color palette were abundant,
except for on Nathan, of course.
The whole gang keeping it "Straight Up" classy!
*Flappers were a "new breed" of young Western women in the 1920s who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and flaunted their disdain for what was then considered acceptable behavior. (from Wikipedia.com - Flapper article)

Banquet Apparel

Last week, I attended the Annual E.W. Scripps Journalism awards banquet.

Now, when deciding what to wear to a banquet like this,
I tend to go the professional route, especially if I know I'm receiving an award.

But you can still have fun with it.
I decided to go with a peter pan collar dress with black tights and black flats.
I tied the look together with a black blazer . . . and pink lips just to show my fun side. ;)

These photos were brought to you by Tanya Parker!!

Colbie 2.0

Friday night, Allison and I, along with our friends Alexa and Daniel
attended the Colbie Caillat concert at Memorial Auditorium.

You may be wondering why this post is entitled Colbie 2.0.
That's because this was the second time I've seen Colbie in concert.
Last summer, my dad and I went to see Colbie and Gavin Degraw
when they were on tour together.
Now, if you don't know me personally, you probably don't know that
I am THE BIGGEST Gavin Degraw fan IN THE WORLD.
I know that seems like an exaggeration,
but seriously I've loved that man since the 5th grade
when he came out with the "I don't wanna be" music video.
He's my future husband, no doubt.

VIP = Very Important Person = HIS FUTURE WIFE!

My man was rockin' out!

Cool picture? I think so.

Umm this will be the picture on our wedding invitation – minus my dad, of course.
Be looking out for it in the mail.
Maybe we'll even give out mini straw fedoras as party favors???

Anyways, back to the concert I just attended.

Noah Gundersen Photo by Alexa Pressman
Noah Gundersen and the Courage opened the show to a slightly intoxicated crowd.
People were proudly double-fisting beers from the concessions,
but it is Athens after all.
I had never heard of Gundersen, but I will say that everyone should know his name.
He will make it big sometime soon, because his music was awesome.
Slightly depressing, but awesome, none-the-less.

To learn more about Gundersen, visit his website here: http://noahgundersenmusic.com

Of course, we got to meet Noah out in the lobby of Mem Aud.

Alexa got to get right up to the stage to get up close picture Ms. Caillat!

And here are Colbie's bandmates. They were a bunch of friendly fellows!

Finally, after an hour and a half,
the one and only Colbie Caillat appeared out of her tour bus.
The ten of us that had desperately waited in the cold for a picture with her were ecstatic.
And here it is!

Straight Up Strikes Again!

It's that time of month . . . you know the one . . .
NO not that one . . . I meant it's time for Straight Up!

Yesterday, I hosted my fourth episode of Straight Up Entertainment News.
Like always, it was a blast!

Plus, I think it was the smoothest morning we've ever had!
No technical difficulties to be had in RTV.

Sadly, it was my last time hosting until the fall. :(

So now, I am counting down the days until I'm in front of that green screen again!

As always Allison was there to capture the moments . . .
and as a little treat, I've mixed in a few new cast pictures taken
by Straight Up Director David Thompson for you to enjoy.

Lights, Camera, Action . . . There's nothing like it!
I was determined to wear a springtime look even though it's snowing right now . . .
but that's Ohio weather for you.

Can't go wrong with a floral dress,
and nothing says spring like a pair of mustard tights.
Bring it all together with a basic like a tan blazer.

Scandalous!!!

Tanya Parker (Producer) and David Thompson (Director)
They're both graduating seniors.
We, at Straight Up, will miss them dearly, for they truly kept the ship afloat.
I can't wait to see what life has in store for them!
Congratulations you two!

Three co-hosts in three episodes . . . I feel like a host whore!

Just one big happy family. <3
